Goldendoodle Owner Asks Groomer for ‘Teddy Bear Chic’—Can’t Believe Result
An owner asking and expecting a “teddy bear chic” look for their goldendoodle’s haircut couldn’t believe the result after the appointment.
The goldendoodle named Bruno is crossbreed of a golden retriever and a poodle, and is known to have unique fur—loose curls and sometimes shaggy. Regular grooming is important to maintain this breed’s coat.
An article from WikiHow that was last updated in April states that goldendoodles need to be brushed regularly, bathed about once a week and should receive haircuts every four to six weeks.
Bruno’s owner expected another routine haircut but was surprised to find the dog looked like an entirely different canine. The May 21 Instagram video posted to the account @brunothegroodlelife, which reached over 3.4 million views, shows the pup before his haircut, with his long, lush brown locks.
After the haircut, Bruno appeared to have lost a significant amount of weight, as all of the dog’s fur had been shaved off. The groomer only left the fur around his nose long. It looked like he had a mustache.
The video’s caption reads: “I asked for ‘teddy bear chic’… they gave me ‘naked mole rat on a budget.'”
The owner told Newsweek via TikTok that they did not expect the video to become as popular as it did, with over 85,100 likes and 1,793 comments on Instagram. He posted the video to participate in a trend of owners sharing dog haircuts gone wrong.

Instagram Users React
Instagram users became conflicted at the result of the haircut. Some loved the fresh, new due. Others quickly chimed in to defend the groomer, guessing the dog had matted fur.
“I think he looks adorable with short hair!” commented one user.
Appalled by the hair, another wrote: “Omg…are you kidding me. That groomer should find another career.”
A third user posted: “He probably feels so much better getting those mats and knots out. They’re painful.”
Meanwhile, a groomer added in the comments section: “…I’m sure he was matted. We don’t shave for nothing. It’s more work on us!!”
“We honestly find it a bit funny how many groomers are coming out in attack mode—acting like they were the ones who trimmed him, and claiming he’s neglected,” Bruno’s owner said. “In reality, he’s one of the most pampered and well-loved little boys.”
