A 21-year-old student who interned at the office of Kansas Representative Ron Estes was killed in a shooting in Washington D.C. on Monday night.
Police responded to reports of gunshots just before 10:30 p.m. on Monday, according to Fox7.
Officers found Eric Tarpinian-Jachym suffering from gunshot wounds at the scene. He was taken to hospital, but was later pronounced dead.
Tarpinian-Jachym was a resident of Granby, Massachusetts, and a student at Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst.

Tarpinian-Jachym had reportedly been interning for around two months before he was killed.
Representative Estes said in a statement: “I will remember his kind heart and how we always greeted anyone who entered our office with a cheerful smile.
“We are grateful to Eric for his service to Kansas’ 4th District and the country. Please join Susan and me in praying for his family and respecting their privacy during this heartbreaking time.”
