Hamas Displays 4 Black Coffins Ahead of Hostage Remains Handover
Hamas is handing over the bodies of four hostages on Thursday, including a mother and her two children, who have become symbols of the hostage crisis that has gripped Israel since the Gaza war broke out.
The transfer of the bodies is the first such handover of remains by Hamas since its October 7, 2023 attack on Israel triggered the war.
Four coffins were displayed on a stage in front of a banner depicting an altered image of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and members of the Bibas family.
Shiri Bibas and her two children, Ariel and Kfir, have long been feared dead. Kfir was the youngest captive of the 251 hostages taken by Hamas-led militants on October 7 attack, in which some 1,200 people were also killed.

All three were killed in an Israeli airstrike early in the war, Hamas has said. The militant group also plans to release the body of Oded Lifshitz, who was 83 when he was abducted.
