Hamas Says American-Israeli Hostage Edan Alexander Will Be Released
🎙️ Voice is AI-generated. Inconsistencies may occur.
Hamas said Sunday that it had reached an agreement with the United States to release dual American-Israeli national Edan Alexander.
“The Israeli soldier with dual American-Israeli citizenship, Edan Alexander, will be released as part of the steps being taken to establish a ceasefire, open the crossings, and allow humanitarian aid and relief to enter for our people in the Gaza Strip,” the Palestinian militant group, which the U.S. designates as a terrorist organization, said in a statement.
Steve Witkoff, the U.S. special envoy to the Middle East, confirmed that an agreement had been reached to NBC News.
“We are picking him up probably tomorrow,” he said. “There was a long negotiation with lots of people to thank.”
This is a developing news story and will be updated with additional information.
