Harry Styles Kisses ‘SNL’ Star After ‘Queerbaiting’ Backlash

Harry Styles’ second time hosting Saturday Night Live (SNL) featured a dramatic kiss with male cast member Ben Marshall and a jab at the long-swirling rumors around the British singer’s sexuality.

Styles used his opening monologue to reference his previous appearance on the show in 2019, and the interest his style choices drew from fans and the media.

“Back then, people seemed to pay a lot of attention to the clothes I was wearing and some people accused me of something called ‘queerbaiting,'” Styles said.

“But did it ever occur to you that maybe you don’t know everything about me, Dad?,” he added.

Styles has long dodged publicly discussing his sexuality while staring down “queerbaiting” allegations, a term used to describe when high-profile figures hint at LGBTQ+ relationships or attraction without giving public confirmation.

Shortly after referencing the title of his latest album, “Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally,” Styles added: “I mean, sometimes kissing can be great, you know, if you’re really good at it and you’re a good person.”

SNL cast members Chloe Fineman and Sarah Squirm approached Styles while he spoke, although he shrugged off their advances.

Styles has a cheeky exchange with Marshall before going in for a kiss.

“Now, that’s queerbaiting,” Styles said with a wink.
