Harvard Reacts to Judge’s Scolding Order Against Trump Admin

Harvard University has welcomed a federal judge’s order blocking the Trump administration‘s plan to effectively bar its international students.
U.S. District Judge Allison Burroughs issued a preliminary injunction on Monday, saying the administration’s “misplaced efforts to control a reputable academic institution” threatened freedom of speech. The injunction extends a temporary order Burroughs previously issued preventing the administration from enforcing a proclamation Trump signed on June 4.
The judge’s order “will continue to allow Harvard to host international students and scholars while this case moves forward,” Harvard spokesperson Jason Newton said in a statement to campus newspaper The Harvard Crimson.
“Harvard will continue to defend its rights — and the rights of its students and scholars.”
Newsweek contacted Harvard, the White House and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) via email outside of regular office hours on Tuesday.
