Harvey Weinstein Reacts to Adrien Brody Mentioning His Kids in Oscars Speech
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
Harvey Weinstein has responded to Adrien Brody shouting out his two kids during The Brutalist actor’s acceptance speech at the 2025 Academy Awards. Brody has been dating Weinstein’s ex-wife, Georgina Chapman, since 2019.
“Harvey is happy for Georgina and grateful that his kids are being loved and cared for as they deserve to be,” the 72-year-old disgraced film producer’s rep Juda Engelmayer told Us Weekly on Monday, March 3.
Weinstein — who is currently incarcerated in New York — and the 48-year-old fashion designer wed in 2007 and welcomed two children together: daughter India, 14, and son Dashiell, 11. Chapman filed for divorce in October 2017 after numerous sexual assault and rape allegations against Weinstein came to light. The couple’s divorce was finalized about four years later, in July 2021.

On Sunday, March 2, Brody, 51 won the Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his work in The Brutalist. Chapman attended the awards show with Brody, and they kissed and embraced as soon as he was named the category winner. Brody thanked his sweetheart and her kids on stage.
“I share this with my amazing partner, Georgina, who has not only reinvigorated my own self-worth, but my sense of value and my values,” The Pianist actor remarked. “And her beautiful children, Dash and India, I know it’s been a roller coaster, but thank you for accepting me into your life. And Popsy’s coming home a winner.”

In 2021, Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years behind bars as he was convicted of rape and sexual assault charges. However, in April 2024, the conviction was overturned. The once Hollywood A-lister is now awaiting retrial for the rape charges. In January, Weinstein — who has cancer — asked the judge to move the retrial date from April 15 to April 7, noting he is struggling in prison.
“I can’t hold on,” Weinstein told the judge. “I’m begging for you to move the date…I want to be out of this hellhole.”
