Hearts Melt at Golden Retriever’s Reaction to First Snowfall of the Season
Montreal’s first snowfall of the season brought joy to more than just skiers and winter fans—one golden retriever’s reaction has melted hearts across the internet.
Charlie, a 2-year-old golden retriever from Montreal, Quebec, left people delighted after his owner, Lauren Lieberman, 34, shared a video of his overjoyed reaction to the fresh blanket of snow.
In the clip, Charlie can be seen bounding, burrowing and lounging blissfully in the winter powder while bundled up in a blue jacket.
“He is obsessed with snow. He’d sleep in the snow if he could,” Lieberman told Newsweek. “I always share this type of content on my Instagram and TikTok because people love to see his reactions. Charlie is extremely expressive—sometimes a little dramatic and very emotional—and people love to watch it.”

Golden retrievers have a long history of loving snow. Their double coat is perfect at keeping them warm and dry in cold winters, and unlike for humans, they always find snow fun not uncomfortable.
While goldens are well known for enjoying winter weather, it is important to keep an eye on dogs in the snow. Experts warn that they have to keep an eye on paws, watching for cracks that can be caused by snow or ice. It is also essential to dry off your pup after snow playtime and avoid salted sidewalks which can hurt paws or cause stomach issues if licked.
Internet Reacts
The internet could not get enough of Charlie’s snow playtime. The video has been viewed more than 1.5 million times on TikTok and comments include:
“Ty for the video. It breaks up all the videos of negative news,” said one commenter. While another wrote: “His little jumps OMGG.”
“I’ve never seen a husky this color lol,” joked another viewer.
Legend has it he’s still laying in the snow,” said one viewer.
Some commenters who were not keen on snow themselves said that Charlie’s reaction would change their perspective: “I will now despise snow just a little less knowing how much joy it brings this good boy.”
Winter Weather Outlook
Charlie’s snow joy comes as residents across two U.S. states have been issued a winter weather warning by the National Weather Service (NWS) to prepare for up to 18 inches of snow from Sunday morning into Monday night.
While meteorologists have warned that an “extraordinary and unique” atmospheric event. A disruption of the polar vortex could send a blast of cold, arctic air into parts of the U.S., which may lead to below-average temperatures, heavy snow, and potentially dangerous wintry conditions, starting earlier than usual in December and lasting longer than normal, until January.
