Hearts Melt at What Cockapoo Is Found Doing As Owner Showers

What a clingy cockapoo does when their owner showers has left internet viewers in stitches.

The dog owner, who uses the social-media tag @_nalacockapoo, decided to share how the doting pup follows her to the shower, in a video that has garnered more than 517,300 views and over 28,900 likes on TikTok.

“Tell me your dog’s clingy without telling me your dog’s clingy,” the owner wrote as the text overlaying the footage. “Always by my side,” she captioned the clip, which shows the brown pooch peacefully sleeping on the bathroom rug as their owner showers.

Cockapoos are known for their affectionate and loyal nature, as the breed often forms strong bonds with their owners.

CockapooHQ says that this breed is particularly prone to clinginess due to their mixed lineage of cocker spaniels and poodles—both known for being highly social and attached to their humans. Their need for constant companionship can sometimes manifest in behaviors such as following their owners everywhere, including the bathroom.

This behavior is not unique to cockapoos, as many pups experience separation anxiety or exhibit “Velcro dog” tendencies. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says that some dogs feel a deep need to always be near their owners, which can stem from separation anxiety or simply their inherent personality traits.

Hill’s Pet Nutrition defines “Velcro dogs” as canines that are overly attached to their humans, preferring to stick close no matter where they go.

TikTok users were quick to share their own experiences with clingy pets.

“Mine does this then licks my legs when I step out,” said one user.

“That friend is what we call a Velcro dog,” commented another.

“My cockapoo is the same he will lay next to the bath and wait,” posted Lauryn.

“Definitely a cockapoo thing mine has bed in the bathroom when I bath,” wrote Jess Freeman.

“My cavapoo does exactly the same thing. Where I go she goes,” said Lisa Whittaker.

“I thought that was the design on the mat,” commented one user.

“Mine jumps up and puts his chin on the side of bath for the duration of my entire bath,” posted another user.
