Hearts Melt Over Owner’s Elderly Cat Befriending New Kitten: ‘Mini Me’

Naturally territorial animals, cats don’t always welcome new pets with open paws into their homes. However, one senior feline has impressed social media viewers with the way she quickly accepted a new kitten.
In an October 16 post, TikTok user @daviejx shared a montage of videos during the elderly cat and kitten’s first week together. It started with the senior cat observing from afar, eyeing the kitten with curiosity. She didn’t look as if she wanted anything to do with the kitten, but day by day she started to warm up, the owner told Newsweek.
They started snuggling, sleeping together and grooming each other, leaving the owner feeling relieved that it had worked out so well. They’re inseparable now.
“I was a little apprehensive as she is getting older now and likes her sleep,” the owner said. “But in the past, she had been very maternal to my sister’s kittens so I knew she had it in her.”

The owner believes the senior cat quickly welcomed the kitty because of her past. She was found as a stray at around 1 year old. It could have been that she had a litter herself, giving her those maternal instincts. However, that is just speculation.
The precious TikTok video has amassed over 565,200 views, 62,400 likes and 1,203 comments as of Friday.
“Now u can watch ur younger cat get older with ur old cat and watch ur older cat get younger with ur younger cat… Watch the difference it makes. Beautiful,” commented one viewer.
Another said: “This is so cute…both being so gentle and respectful to each other…just lovely.”
The owner responded that it’s not always that calm in the household. The kitten can be a bit “crazy.”
Not only did viewers fall in love with their quick friendship, but people also couldn’t get over the fact that the two cats look so similar. Both have white fur with black patches.
The owner pointed out in the caption that they have the same ears too—the left one white and the right one black. It’s as if they’re looking in a mirror.
“ITS A MINI ME!” wrote a TikTok user, while a second echoed: “They look like twins!”
