Hearts Melt Over Rescue Puppies in ‘Food Coma’ After First Taste of Kibble

The adorable moment three puppies were left in “a food coma” after getting their first taste of dried kibble has melted hearts across the internet.

Many people know what it’s like to be so full you can hardly move, but for these rescue pups, it was an entirely new sensation. Their owner, Siera Martinez, captured the trio of puppies, who are around 6 weeks old, as they dozed off immediately after munching on the puppy chow.

Martinez, who resides in Texas, couldn’t believe her eyes when she watched the siblings slump over and fall asleep amongst all their food. The mom-of-three told Newsweek that she thought it was “the funniest and cutest thing ever.”

She continued: “The rescue pups have puppy chow for the first time, and they slept for almost an hour in their bed after that.”

While they are generally very cuddly and playful, Martinez couldn’t resist capturing this moment of respite while they had full bellies.

She shared the sweet clip on TikTok (@sieramartinez) showing the precious aftermath of feeding time. Internet users can’t get enough of the video and it’s gone viral with over 1.3 million likes and 180,100 likes since it was posted on November 26.

The caption layered over the video jokes: “When you have puppy food for the first time instead of puree, and it puts you in a food coma.”

There’s certainly no denying how much the puppies enjoyed their first mouthfuls of puppy chow, especially since it was covered in chicken broth for added flavor. Needless to say, puppy purée would no longer cut it after they’ve had a taste of the good stuff.

Martinez and her family adopted a dog called Daisy in September, and by the end of October, she had welcomed her litter of puppies. Martinez told Newsweek that all of the dogs are healthy and progressing well, and the puppies are “ready for their new homes.”

She’s certainly loved her time with the litter and enjoyed watching them grow, but now she’s excited for them to find their forever families.

The online reaction to the video has been overwhelmingly positive, after all, who doesn’t love sleeping puppies? Martinez told Newsweek that the majority of social media users have reached out to share how “hilarious and cute” the footage is.

This has led to more than 140 comments on the viral TikTok video at the time of writing. One commenter wrote: “little pups didn’t know what hit ‘em.”

Another TikTok user said: “Passing out mid bite is crazy.”

Another person replied: “They didn’t even try to leave.”

While one comment reads: “That is hilarious & sooooo stinkin cute!”
