Heat Could Add $20M Guard in Blockbuster Jimmy Butler Trade Idea
The Miami Heat have been dealing with the trade drama of star Jimmy Butler for a long time now but so far, nothing has materialized. It seems as if the team will move on from Butler before the trade deadline expires but things are a little complicated.
Butler has exhibited some bad behavior and it has some teams wary of adding him to the mix. But Miami seems determined to move him, with them even reportedly dropping the asking price for the six-time All-Star forward.
In this new trade proposal from Eddie Bitar of Fadeaway World, Butler is sent out West. The six-time All-Star heads to the Memphis Grizzlies as the Heat rid themselves of the headache that he has become.
Memphis Grizzlies Receive: Jimmy Butler
Miami Heat Receive: Marcus Smart, Brandon Clarke, John Konchar, Luke Kennard, 2027 Second-Round Pick (ATL)
“For Miami, acquiring Smart brings a defensive stalwart and former Defensive Player of the Year, while Clarke and Konchar add youthful energy and versatility. Kennard’s sharpshooting addresses Miami’s need for perimeter scoring, as he’s hitting 49.0% from beyond the arc this season.”

While this trade would be a major gamble for the Grizzlies, they could be taken to the next level in terms of title contention. It has been reported that Butler has no desire to go to Memphis so the Grizzlies would take a risk here.
But for Miami, this could be as good a deal as they may get. With other teams seemingly out on the star, Memphis could be a strong trade partner.
Miami would get a strong defender in Smart and a change of scenery could be exactly what he needs to thrive. The Heat tend to change players for the better due to the strong culture that the organization exhibits.
Clarke has been an underrated player around the league for years and Miami could work well with him. His rebounding ability and energy could serve this team as they try to make a run toward the postseason.
All in all, this deal could be interesting for both sides. There may be some risk to each team but that is also the case within any trade made.
