Hendrick Motorsports Releases Statement After Daytona Disqualification

Hendrick Motorsports has announced their intention to challenge the disqualification of their #75 truck following the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race in Daytona.

The race, the Fresh From Florida 250, seemed to be a success for Parker Kligerman who appeared to win his fourth career title. However, post-race inspections revealed that his No. 75 Chevrolet Silverado had a ride height violation, leading to his disqualification.

The rules that govern NASCAR are strict, especially concerning the technical aspects of the race vehicles. In this case, the rear of Kligerman’s truck was found to be too low on both sides. Such a violation can inadvertently give a vehicle an aerodynamic advantage, which is strictly against NASCAR’s regulations.

This decision resulted in Corey Heim, who initially finished behind Kligerman, being declared the winner. The event marked Heim’s 12th career win in his 65th start, yet it came under unique circumstances.

Hendrick Motorsports shared:

“OFFICIAL UPDATE:

“We’ve decided to appeal the disqualification of our #75 Truck from yesterday evening’s NCTS Race at Daytona.”

In the press conference following his win, Corey Heim shared mixed feelings. He mentioned:

“It’s my first time having this kind of scenario happening, either way. Certainly glad to be on the right side of it.

“It sucks for Parker and those guys. They seemed like they obviously put themselves in position at the right time to win the race, but, obviously there’s another level to it after the race.

“It’s certainly not as thrilling as winning the race on the racetrack, but I don’t know. I’ve been on the wrong side of it several times in my Late Model career, but its cool to kind of get a big win like that, I guess.”

Prior to learning about his disqualification, Kligerman excitedly shared:

“Daytona Regan, come on! Let’s go! Biggest win of my entire life. … I’m out of breath I can’t believe it, I was just making moves and just like, I don’t even, I just – every move I made felt like it worked.

“And for some reason it really did and these guys built an amazing truck. I can’t believe we’re here.

“This has been so close the last couple of years, this means so much. To win the biggest place, we were just doing all the TV stuff today, talking about how much this place means. And all you fans! Here at Daytona! Thank you so much! God, I love this place! I love racing, I love winning. I’m ready for the next chapter in my life but this means a lot.”

It is yet to be seen what NASCAR’s decision will be on the appeal.
