How 2024 Election Night Unfolded In Photos

Former President Donald Trump has declared victory in the 2024 presidential election.

The election has now been called for Trump by The Associated Press, with his win in Wisconsin putting him over the 270 threshold needed to take the presidency.

The GOP is projected by AP and Fox News to take control of the Senate after flipping seats in Ohio and West Virginia.

Foreign leaders have congratulated Trump, as the world reacts to what is being called the greatest comeback in political history.

Across the U.S., supporters of both Trump and of Vice President Kamala Harris watched as the election results came in on the night of November 5 and into the early hours of the morning on November 6.

Harris Watch Party Empty As Supporters Told To Go Home

Harris did not appear at her election watch party. At nearly 1 a.m. ET, with her path to victory shrinking, her campaign chief told supporters she will address them in the morning.

“You won’t hear from the vice president tonight,” Cedric Richmond told the crowd, who were gathered at Harris’ alma mater, Howard University.

The crowd had been dancing, cheering and listening to loud music.

Earlier in the evening, Howard University’s gospel choir performed “Oh Happy Day,” in what was expected to be the Harris victory party.

But when North Carolina was called for Trump, the crowd became silent.

Richmond told supporters: “We still have votes to count. We still have the states that have not been called yet,” and thanked them for “believing in the promise of America.”

By 1 a.m. the quad was nearly empty, and the lights on the stage had been turned out.

Trump Declares Victory In Florida

Trump celebrated the election results during a speech from West Palm Beach, Florida, shortly after midnight on Wednesday.

Flanked by family members and running mate JD Vance, Trump promised a new “golden age for America.”

“This was a movement like nobody’s ever seen before, and frankly this was, I believe, the greatest political movement of all time.”

Trump then pledged: “We’re going to help our county heal,” before adding that “America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate.”

Harris Supporters React To The Results

At election night watch parties, it was a somber scene among Harris supporters.

Supporters of the vice president were seen crying as they reacted to the news, while others sat with their heads in their hands as results continued to show her falling behind in key states.

Trump Supporters Celebrate His Win

In a stark contrast to Harris’ supporters, Trump’s supporters were ecstatic as the former reality TV star celebrated his presidential win.
