A husky’s unusual sleeping position has captured the internet’s attention after a short Instagram clip showed the dog ignoring his costly beds and choosing the hard floor instead.
The light‑hearted moment, shared in February, quickly resonated with viewers and has since become a viral hit. The video was posted by Instagram account @lokithehusky.jpg and shows the husky lying flat on his back, paws stretched straight up in the air.
Completely relaxed, the dog naps upside down in a pose many viewers likened to a roasting chicken. The humorous contrast between his calm expression and his awkward position is what helped propel the clip across social media.
Adding to the joke is the caption accompanying the video, which points out the irony of the situation. “Spent hundreds of dollars on dogs bed so he can sleep like a rotisserie chicken on the hard floor,” the caption says. “Money well spent.”
The RSPCA advises choosing a dog bed that suits a dog’s size, habits and needs. Dogs sleep in different positions, so the bed should be large enough for them to stretch out as well as curl up comfortably.
Different bed types suit different preferences: round or raised-edge beds help dogs curl up, while flat mattress styles are better for lying stretched out. Materials should be comfortable, well-padded, durable and easy to clean, with waterproof options useful for outdoor or travel use.
Some dogs require specialized beds. Older dogs or those with joint problems may benefit from orthopedic or memory foam beds, while nervous dogs might prefer enclosed “igloo” styles for security. In multi-dog households, each dog should have its own bed to prevent conflict.
Beds should be placed in warm, draught-free areas, ideally offering both a quiet resting spot and a place near family activity. Dogs should not be disturbed while resting, as undisturbed sleep is important for their wellbeing.
Despite the simplicity of the video, its impact has been enormous. The post has racked up more than 1.6 million views on Instagram, alongside an impressive 156,000 likes.
One user, Rachelannstark, commented: “Quite literally just spent $400 on a giant orthopedic dog bed for my husky’s 13th birthday… he’s slept on the ice for the last week.”
