The Los Angeles Lakers season has been the ultimate roller coaster as they’ve hit the halfway mark.

The Lakers completed their 41st game of the season on Tuesday night when they defeated the lowly Washington Wizards 111-88 in front of their home crowd. While the Wizards put up a fight, the Lakers kept their distance and ended up winning comfortably.
The game was put to bed by the final minutes, which allowed Lakers head coach JJ Redick to empty out his bench. This allowed their No. 55 pick from the 2024 NBA Draft, Bronny James, to participate in the 11th game of his NBA career.
James appeared for the last two minutes of the game; however, he did not record a single point.

The 20-year-old attempted only one shot, which he missed, along with one rebound and one steal, and was a +4 in the plus/minus category. As always, the crowd was ecstatic to see James and were chopping at the bit to see him record his first bucket in front of them.
The only time James has recorded a field goal came against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Oct. 30. James is scoreless in his last seven contests and has played a total of 13 minutes.
In total, James is averaging 0.4 points per game, 0.2 rebounds, 0.3 assists, 0.1 blocks, and 0.2 steals in 2.3 minutes of action. On top of that, he is shooting 10 percent from the field.
His time in the G League has been vastly different. In seven games played with the South Bay Lakers, he is averaging 13.4 points per game, 3.,4 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.7 blocks while shooting 36.6 percent from the field and 21.2 percent from three in 26.9 minutes of action.
It is clear that James still has a long way to go to be a reliable player in the NBA, even if that is off the bench. The Lakers and many knew that as he decided to take his talents to the next level after one season at USC.
James’ next opportunity to play will be on Thursday when the Lakers host their biggest and most hated rival, the Boston Celtics, at home.
In all likelihood, James will see the court only if there is a blowout.
The Lakers currently sit with a 23-18 record, which is good for the sixth seed in the loaded Western Conference.
