St. John’s rolled to a 108-74 victory over visiting Quinnipiac at the on-campus Carnesecca Arena on Monday night, shooting 56.5% in the rout. Cincinnati transfer Dillon Mitchell led the attack with 18 points to go with four steals, while senior Zuby Ejiofor finished with 17 points. North Carolina transfer Ian Jackson debuted with 15 points in 15 minutes for the Red Storm, and Idaho State transfer Dylan Darling came off the bench for six points, six assists, and three steals.
Alabama also had an easy time in its opener on Monday, never trailing in a 91-62 rout of visiting North Dakota. Sophomore Labaron Philon Jr. went for 22 points and eight assists, with graduate student Houston Mallette returning from an injury-shortened season to post 15 points and eight rebounds. Freshmen Amari Allen and London Jemison each scored 12 points in their collegiate debuts.
The game marks the first meeting between the programs since the Crimson Tide beat St. John’s in the second round of the 1982 NCAA tournament, with the teams splitting four meetings in the all-time series.
This is a great college basketball matchup that you will not want to miss; make sure to tune in and catch all the action.
