The Blue Devils, a No. 1 seed in the tournament and the ACC tournament champions, are 35-3 this season. Advanced analytics website KenPom has them as the No. 1 team in the country, with the most efficient offense and the fifth-most efficient defense. The Cougars, on the other hand, are 34-4 this season. According to KenPom, the reigning Big 12 champions are the No. 2 team in the country, with the 10th-most efficient offense and the first-most efficient defense.
Duke is coming off an impressive demolition of No. 2 seed Alabama in the Elite Eight, an 85-65 victory for the Blue Devils. In the triumph, freshman guard Kon Knueppel led the way for Duke, who had 21 points, five rebounds, and five assists in the Blue Devil victory. Projected No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg also had a strong showing, contributing 16 points and nine rebounds in the win.
On the other hand, the Cougars survived one scare in the tournament, eking out a 62-60 win over Purdue in the Sweet 16. Houston was led by guard Milos Uzan in the win, with Uzan dropping 22 points and six assists in the victory.
