The Blue Devils enter the championship game with a 30-3 record this season and a 10-game winning streak. Most recently, Duke defeated Georgia Tech 78-70 behind a monster performance by freshman guard Kon Knueppel, who had 28 points, five rebounds, and eight assists in the win. However, the biggest headline to come out of the game was that fellow freshman phenom Cooper Flagg went down with an ugly ankle injury that will keep him out for Saturday’s final against the Cardinals.
Flagg is reportedly doing better, but it’s unclear if and when he might come back this season. Duke head coach Jon Scheyer said the team’s goal was to have Flagg ready for next week’s NCAA tournament. Regardless, even without Flagg, the Blue Devils were able to take down archrival North Carolina in the ACC tournament semifinal on Friday, taking the win 74-71 behind 17 points from Knueppel.
Louisville, meanwhile, is 27-6 this season and on an 11-game winning streak heading into Sunday. Most recently, the Cardinals defeated Stanford 75-73 to open the ACC tournament and then took down Clemson 76-73 on Friday behind 41 combined points by James Madison transfer Terrence Edwards Jr. and Northeastern, Colorado transfer J’Vonne Hadley.
Tune in to ESPN at 8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night to watch two of the best teams in the ACC face off for the conference tournament championship when Louisville takes on Duke.
