Georgia, which will play in the Southeastern Conference championship game next week, cruised to a 35-3 non-conference win over visiting Charlotte on Saturday. The Bulldogs hold down the No. 4 spot in the latest College Football Playoff rankings, putting them in line for a first-round bye. Bo Walker ran for three touchdowns against the 49ers while Nate Frazier ran in a pair of scores.

Georgia Tech’s chances for a berth in the Atlantic Coast Conference title game took a big hit on Saturday when visiting Pitt jumped out to a 28-0 lead and rolled to a 42-28 victory. Haynes King threw for 257 yards and two touchdowns but was also intercepted twice, including a pick-six, and ran for 76 yards and a score. Isiah Canion caught both touchdown passes, and Jamal Haynes ran for a score.

The Yellow Jackets have one path to the ACC championship game, needing Virginia and SMU to lose this weekend to set up a favorable tiebreaker. The Bulldogs won their seventh straight Governor’s Cup last season at home, taking a 44-42 thriller in eight overtimes to claim a 72-39-5 advantage in the series.
