The Knicks hit just 8-of-32 from 3-point range and committed 18 turnovers on Friday night as the visiting Philadelphia 76ers ended New York’s six-game winning streak with a 116-107 victory. Karl-Anthony Towns and Jalen Brunson scored 22 points each in the loss, with Towns adding 11 rebounds and Brunson handing out nine assists. Mitchell Robinson finished with 21 points and 16 boards, while Mikal Bridges also scored 21 points.
Shorthanded Miami shot just 39.2% with Tyler Herro, Davion Mitchell, and Andrew Wiggins all sidelined on Friday night, taking a 129-116 road loss to the Boston Celtics. Kel’El Ware went for 24 points and 14 rebounds, and Bam Adebayo finished with 16 points and 10 boards as the Heat lost for the sixth time in their last seven games. Norman Powell scored 18 points, and rookie Kasparas Jakucionis went for 17 in his first career start.
The Heat can clinch the season series against New York with a win after taking both games at home, winning 115-107 on Oct. 26 and 115-113 on Nov. 17. The Knicks held serve at home on Nov. 14 with a 140-132 victory. Brunson averages 28.4 points and 6.5 assists for New York, while Towns puts up 22.4 points and 11.8 rebounds per game. Powell leads Miami with an average of 24.1 points, Adebayo scores 18.5 points per game, Ware gets 11.9 points and 10.4 boards a night, and Jaime Jaquez Jr. contributes 15.4 points and 4.8 assists per outing.
