This matchup features two of the Big 12’s top teams, with Houston leading the conference and Texas Tech tied for second place. The Cougars enter on a six-game winning streak after defeating Iowa State 68-59 in their last outing, led by LJ Cryer’s 28 points and Milos Uzan’s 19 points.
The Red Raiders come in fresh off a dominant 73-51 home victory over West Virginia, where JT Toppin scored 22 points and Christian Anderson added 21 points.
Houston boasts the nation’s top defense, allowing just 57.7 points per game while scoring 75.1 points themselves. They’ve been impressive on the road with an 8-0 record this season.
Texas Tech averages 81.4 points per game (30th in college basketball) and has been especially potent at home, scoring 84.7 points per contest. The Red Raiders lead the Big 12 in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.58.
These teams met earlier this month in Houston, where Texas Tech emerged with an 82-81 overtime victory – the Cougars’ only conference loss this season. This will be Houston’s first visit to Lubbock in over 20 years, with their last meeting at United Supermarkets Arena coming on January 1, 2003.
