Houston coach Kelvin Sampson has his team defending at an elite level, allowing just 61.6 points per game, No. 2 in the NCAA. That defense has been on display as of late, with the Cougars on a four-game winning streak, allowing just 54 points to Cincinnati and 55 to UCF during that stretch. Their last game was impressive as well, defeating No. 16 BYU 77-66 on the road, holding them to just 39.6% shooting from the field. On the offensive side, four starters scored in double figures, led by Kingston Flemings, who scored 19 points with five rebounds, five assists, and a steal.
The Utes are in the midst of a difficult stretch of their schedule, and their results have suffered as they have lost 10 of their last 11 games, five of which have been against ranked opponents. Their last time out resulted in a 71-59 road loss at No. 11 Kansas, with Keanu Dawes playing a terrific game, scoring 22 points to go with 12 rebounds, shooting a robust 10-of-13 from the field. Unfortunately for the Utes, the rest of the team shot just 12-of-42, with the entire bench scoring just four points.
