How to Watch Kamala Harris and Joe Biden’s Pittsburgh Rally

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will visit Pittsburgh on Labor Day, marking their first joint campaign event since Harris was confirmed as the Democratic Party’s nominee for the 2024 presidential election.

Although they recently appeared together at a White House event highlighting Medicare drug savings, Monday will be their first time sharing the stage on the campaign trail.

The joint event will be streamed live on Harris’s and Biden’s official YouTube channels. It will also be broadcast on their Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) pages.

This visit is part of the Harris-Walz campaign’s broader Labor Day push. For Biden, Labor Day is especially meaningful due to his long history with Pittsburgh, where he has attended events over the past 15 years and launched his 2020 campaign at a Teamsters union hall. Harris, on the other hand, will be making her first appearance in Pittsburgh as the Democratic nominee.

As August ends and the campaign heats up, Pennsylvania has become a key battleground. Recent polls show a close race between Trump and Harris, highlighting the state’s importance in the upcoming election.

Pennsylvania’s 19 electoral votes are highly sought after. The state flipped to the Democrats in 2020 after supporting Trump in 2016, making it a major focus for both campaigns.

Harris has been actively campaigning in Pennsylvania. On August 18, she and her running mate, Tim Walz, toured the Pittsburgh area by bus. This followed a July event in Philadelphia, where Harris introduced Walz as her running mate. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro gave an energizing speech at the event that received a standing ovation.

Despite Pennsylvania being a Democratic stronghold now, Trump is focusing heavily on the state and is scheduled to visit this Friday, stepping up his campaign efforts. He has already made multiple visits this month, including a rally in Wilkes-Barre on August 17 and a stop in York shortly after.

Trump has also drawn attention to past events in the state, vowing to return to Butler County, where he survived an assassination attempt during a rally on July 13. In that incident, Trump was shot in the ear, resulting in one man’s death and injuries to two others.

Ohio Senator JD Vance, Trump’s running mate, has also been active in the state, visiting Erie on Thursday as part of their coordinated campaign efforts.

The focus on Pennsylvania and other battleground states shows the fierce competition between the two campaigns for support. Labor unions are a key target, with Harris already securing backing from major groups like the United Auto Workers (UAW).
