Maine and Penn State will meet on Friday night in the regional semifinal round of the 2025 NCAA college hockey tournament. The game will take place at the PPL Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Maine went 24-7-6 this season and 13-5-6 in the Hockey East conference play. Penn State, meanwhile, went 20-13-4 this season and 9-11-4 in Big Ten action.
The winner of the game between Maine and Penn State will face the winner of the game that comes right before it, a fun matchup between UConn and Quinnipiac. UConn and Maine recently faced off in the Hockey East tournament, so the stakes would be huge if the programs were to rematch.

Maine finished second in the Hockey East standings for the regular season before then winning the tournament, defeating UConn to win the conference tournament championship. It was the fifth Hockey East tournament championship in the Black Bears’ program history.
Penn State isn’t in quite as good of form, as the Nittany Lions defeated Michigan in the first round of the Big Ten tournament before then falling to Ohio State in the semifinals of the tournament.
