The I-45 Rivalry will be revived on Saturday as Dallas plays host to Houston in a battle between two Southwest Division contenders in very different forms. The Rockets bring a four-game win streak to the American Airlines Center and are already off the mark in 2026, while the Mavericks have won just once in their last seven.
The two teams are evenly matched in their head-to-head so far this season, with Houston opening their account with a win in November before Dallas returned the favor at home last month. Anthony Davis and Kevin Durant led their respective sides as top scorers in that latter matchup, though Houston has since kicked things up a notch.
Ime Udoka’s side is enjoying its longest win streak in almost two months and currently sits second in the Southwest, but has won just two of its five division matchups to date. Dallas’ record is even worse after winning just two of seven in the division, though most of the team’s better performances have all come at home.
Kyrie Irving, Dereck Lively III, and Dante Exum will all be out for Dallas, though there’s hope D’Angelo Russell may recover in time following illness. The same goes for Houston’s Clint Capela (illness) and Steven Adams (foot).
