No. 3 Miami will face an intrastate rivalry for the fourth game running on Saturday when it travels to No. 18 Florida State in an effort to extend its perfect 4-0 season. The Hurricanes find themselves in the running for the ACC title as the campaign nears its midway mark, facing one of two games this weekend between ranked opponents.
The Seminoles are still reeling following their first loss of the 2025 season last weekend, succumbing to Virginia in double overtime to suffer a drop in the AP Poll. That result also marked a disappointing start to head coach Mike Norvell’s ACC schedule, with Miami set to get its own conference calendar underway.
The Hurricanes have leaned heavily on the exploits of running back Mark Fletcher Jr of late, with five touchdowns and 322 rushing yards across his last three games. Rushing mate Charmar Brown has contributed four touchdowns of his own, benefiting greatly from the fine work of tackle Francis Mauigoa.
That threat leaves Florida State with the uncomfortable truth that a high-scoring display is likely needed to stand any chance of an upset this weekend. All eyes will be on quarterback Tommy Castellanos to pull an influential performance out in that regard, having failed to quite meet the mark in last week’s loss at Virginia.
