Another year of fantastic conference tournament games has come and gone and now is the moment everybody has been waiting for. March Madness is officially upon us, and the much anticipated field of 68 teams is set to be revealed today during the NCAA Men’s Basketball Selection Show. The committee is tasked with the difficult decision of picking which teams are worthy of a bid, while other programs will be left disappointed if they do not hear their name called.
The conference champions have guaranteed themselves an automatic bid, but they are still waiting to see which corner of the bracket they will have to fight their way through as they begin their journey to the Sweet Sixteen and Final Four.
Duke, Houston, and Florida will likely be three of the teams that earn the top seeds in their respective regions after winning their conference championships, with Auburn projected to get the last one despite losing to Tennessee in the SEC Tournament semifinals. Auburn was one of the best teams all season long, and the committee will take their impressive 28-5 record into account. The Blue Devils won the ACC without their best player, Cooper Flagg, who is expected to return for the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
