Northwestern snapped a three-game losing streak and became bowl eligible last week with its 38-35 come-from-behind victory over Minnesota at Wrigley Field in Chicago. The Wildcats came back from a 28-13 deficit to take a 35-28 lead with 10:20 remaining, then won the game on Jack Olsen’s 33-yard field goal with 53 seconds remaining. Preston Stone completed 25-of-30 passes for 305 yards and two touchdowns, while Caleb Komolafe ran for 129 yards and a score on 22 carries and also caught a TD pass. Joseph Himon II also had a touchdown run, while Hayden Eligon II caught seven passes for 127 yards, and Griffin Wilde hauled in 11 receptions for 111 yards and a score.
The Illinois running game found itself bottled up last week in a 27-10 loss at Wisconsin. The Fighting Illini finished with just 50 yards on the ground, led by Luke Altmyer’s 20 yards and a touchdown on 13 attempts. Altmyer was sacked five times and finished with 248 passing yards. Gabe Jacas had two of the five sacks recorded by the Illinois defense.
Both teams come in with 4-4 records in Big Ten play, and Illinois looks to retain the Land of Lincoln Trophy — known by fans as “The Hat” — after getting a 38-28 victory in last season’s meeting at Wrigley Field. The Illini lead the all-time series 58-55-5 and have won three of the last four meetings.
This is a great college football matchup that you will not want to miss; make sure to tune in and catch all the action.
