A pivotal Game 6 in the NBA playoffs takes place on Thursday as the LA Clippers face a streaking Denver Nuggets team, with Denver holding a three-games-to-two series lead.
Much was made about the Clippers heading into the playoffs, with some even considering them dark-horse favorites in the Western Conference. The team was playing excellent basketball heading into the postseason, led by a healthy Kawhi Leonard and a still-effective James Harden.
On the other side, the Nuggets were considered potential round-one fodder, as the team had a mediocre regular season, one that even led to the firing of a championship-winning head coach, Mike Malone.
And yet, here we are on the eve of Game 6 with Denver on the verge of clinching the series. Of course, winning in the vaunted Intuit Dome will be no easy task, as the arena funded by Clippers owner Steve Ballmer has one of the best built-in home-court advantages in the NBA. Even so, if Denver were to falter tonight, it would still have one more chance to win the series outright in Game 7 at home.
The Nuggets took Game 5 in dominant fashion, earning a 131-115 win behind 43 points and seven assists by star point guard Jamal Murray, as well as 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists by superstar center Nikola Jokic. Zubac led the way for the Clippers with 27 points but with just five rebounds.
