The Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning start their best-of-seven first-round series in the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Tuesday.
In the regular season, the Lightning finished second in the NHL’s Atlantic Division, compiling a 47-27-8 record, which earned the team 102 points. The Panthers weren’t far behind, though, as the team was 47-31-4, which gave them 98 points.
These two teams split their season series, going 2-2 against each other. The most recent game was just last week, with the Lightning winning 5-1 behind goals from Brayden Point, Conor Geekie, Jake Guentzel, Nikita Kucherov, and Darren Raddysh.
Point finished the regular season in sixth place for goals with 42, while Florida’s Sam Reinhart’s 39 goals were tied for ninth-most. Kucherov tied with Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon for the NHL lead in assists with 84. Guentzel led the NHL in power-play goals.
Tampa Bay’s Ryan McDonagh was the NHL leader in plus/minus at 43.
