The Pelicans were one of the most disappointing teams in 2024-25, winning just 21 games, and thought this season would be much different. So far, it hasn’t been, as New Orleans has started 0-3 with losses to the Memphis Grizzlies, San Antonio Spurs, and most recently, the Boston Celtics. Although the 122-90 final score was ugly, it could have been much worse, as the Pelicans made 25 of 28 foul shots. They struggled from the field, shooting just 33.3% (25% from the 3-point line), with Jordan Poole leading all Pelicans scorers with 22.
In a surprise to nobody, the Nuggets are looking like contenders again, passing their most recent test with a trip to face the Minnesota Timberwolves. In what could be a Western Conference Finals preview, the Nuggets used a 45-29 third quarter to pull away for an eventual 127-114 win. Jamal Murray shot 16-for-29 from the field en route to 43 points, and Nikola Jokic scored 25 with 19 rebounds and 10 assists.
