New York won both games in Detroit, by a combined three points, with Game 4 ending on a missed foul call. At the end of the day, a win is a win, and the Knicks’ 94-93 victory was a series-altering result. Trailing by seven heading into the fourth quarter, star point guard Jalen Brunson scored 15 of his team-best 32 points to lead his team to the win. Karl-Anthony Towns added 27 points and nine rebounds, with Josh Hart adding 14 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and four steals.
While Pistons fans will remember the missed call, Game 4 was more about missed chances. The Pistons held a four-point lead with 1:52 remaining in the game after a Tim Hardaway Jr. jumper, but would miss three shots and turn the ball over once in the final 1:07, leading to the loss. Cade Cunningham led the team with a triple-double, scoring 25 points to go with 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and four blocks. The series is far from over, as the Pistons proved they could win on the road, taking Game 2 in New York 100-94.
