Acosta is 26 years old. He has won all his previous bouts, with 20 wins and zero losses. He finished with a knockout in eight of those fights. He hasn’t fought since last February, when he defeated Maximino Toala in Navojoa, Mexico.
The co-main event of this fight was supposed to be Lester Martinez against Joeshon James, but an illness caused that bout to be canceled.
Still, there’s a strong undercard, including the 17-2-1 Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov fighting the 17-2 Justin Pauldo. Several other undefeated boxers are on the card, including 8-0-1 Sylvestre Quinonez taking on Jesus Maldonado and 7-0 Figo Ramirez fighting 4-3-3 Jose Lopez.
