These two teams just played each other on Thursday in Detroit, a game that was played in a normal arena, not a huge college football stadium.
Columbus won that game 5-2, with most of the scoring coming in the second period. After a scoreless first, Detroit’s Alex DeBrincat scored the first goal of the game, but then the Blue Jackets caught five, scoring four goals in a little more than 10 minutes.
The scoring began and ended with James van Riemsdyk goals, while Sean Kuraly and Kent Johnson scored in between. Soon after the final goal, Detroit’s J.T. Compher closed the gap a bit with a power-play goal.
The final 5-2 margin came about because Columbus recorded a late empty-net goal from Kirill Marchenko.
