Phoenix was also without a star guard on Thursday night as Devin Booker (sprained left ankle) sat out as the Suns faded down the stretch in a 108-105 loss at the Detroit Pistons. Grayson Allen scored 21 of his game-high 33 points in the first half, while Collin Gillespie added 18 points. Dillon Brooks scored 16 before fouling out, Royce O’Neale finished with 11 points and seven assists, and Jordan Goodwin snared 12 rebounds.
The Suns can complete a season sweep of New York after picking up a 112-107 win at home on Jan. 7. Brunson, listed as day-to-day, leads the Knicks with averages of 28.2 points and 6.1 assists, while Towns gets 20.9 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. Booker, also day-to-day, averages 25.2 points and 6.5 assists for Phoenix, with Brooks scoring 21.1 points per game and Mark Williams scoring 12.2 points and 8.3 boards a night.
