South Carolina is looking for its fourth national title after previously winning in 2017, 2022, and 2024. Last season, the Gamecocks took down Iowa, which was led by Caitlin Clark. Four of South Carolina’s current five starters were in the starting lineup for that game.
Under head coach Geno Auriemma, UConn has won 11 national titles, the last coming in 2016. That win clinched the team a four–peat. Since then, UConn has only missed the Final Four once but has not repeated as champs.
These teams played for the 2022 national title against each other, with South Carolina winning 64-49. Both rosters featured two players who are still on the team, including UConn star Paige Bueckers, who scored 14 points in the loss. Can the presumptive No. 1 pick in this month’s WNBA Draft get her revenge?
