When the U.S. faces Brazil in international soccer, it’s always an exciting event, as both nations have proud histories in women’s soccer. Brazil has finished in second place at one World Cup and has three silver medals at the Olympics, which is no small accomplishment, even if the country has never won the biggest trophies possible. The U.S., on the other hand, has five Olympic gold medals in its history and has won the World Cup four times.
The U.S. women’s national team is coming off a setback, falling 2-1 to rival Japan on Feb. 26 despite a 14th-minute goal by Ally Sentnor. Prior to that, the U.S. hadn’t lost since Feb. 26, 2024, a 2-0 defeat to regional rival Mexico. The USWNT’s most recent win came on Feb. 23, a 2-1 victory over Australia in which Lynn Biyendolo and Michelle Cooper were the goal-scorers.
Team USA and Brazil have met on the soccer pitch 41 times in their history. It has been a one-sided rivalry, with the U.S. winning 32 games against Brazil, losing three times, and drawing five times. Regardless, Brazil has a lot of talent in women’s soccer, so today’s game will be tough for the U.S.
Tune in to NBC Universo at 5:00 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon to watch a thrilling women’s international soccer friendly between two powerhouses, the U.S. and Brazil.
