An exciting showdown in the international women’s soccer world will take place on Saturday when USA women’s soccer takes the trip overseas to face England in the iconic Wembley Stadium.

Under head coach Emma Hayes – who managed Chelsea, the club that calls Wembley Stadium home, for 12 years – the USWNT has been flying, most recently winning gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics. To do so, the U.S. defeated Japan (1-0), Germany (1-0) and Brazil (1-0) to take home the grand prize of the summer in the women’s soccer world. Even without counting Olympic action, the U.S. women’s team has won 12 games in a row, not tasting defeat since Feb. 26, 2024.

England, meanwhile, has likewise been playing excellent soccer of late. The English national women’s soccer team most recently defeated South Africa 2-1 thanks to goals by Leah Williamson and Grace Clinton. England fell 4-3 to Germany before that but had defeated Italy 5-1 (goals by Lotte Wubben-Moy, Lauren Hemp, Ella Toone, and Rachel Daly) and Austria 7-2 before the setback against the rival Germans.
England is the reigning World Cup runner-up, so the matchup against the USWNT will be hotly contested and played at a high level on Saturday when the two international soccer giants meet.
England has won two of the last three meetings against the USWNT. The two sides most recently faced off on Oct. 8, 2022, against at Wembley Stadium, with the English women’s team winning 2-1. On March 6, 2020, the U.S. defeated England 2-0 and on July 3, 2019, England defeated the U.S. 2-1.
