Husband Convinces Wife He Can Groom Goldendoodle—Result Backfires Miserably
Hoping to save time and money, a husband convinced his wife that he could give their dog a grooming. But the whole family learned it’s not as easy as it looks.
Grooming your dog, whether it has scruffy or long locks, provides many health benefits. Brushing your dog can help ventilate its coat, according to website The Vet. The pet’s skin can breathe as the level of grease is minimized. Too much grease can cause irritation or other skin problems. Brushing and grooming your dog also promotes healthy blood circulation and can create a bonding experience.
But this family’s dog, Reba, is a goldendoodle, and the breed’s fur needs extra attention when it comes to grooming. The dog’s long hair is rarely cut to the skin because its hair is a protective shield for its sensitive skin. However, a little trim shouldn’t be too difficult, right?
The husband told his wife he could cut Reba’s hair and there was “no need to take her to the groomer.” However, the May 30 TikTok video posted by user @whitneypelfrey shows how that decision backfired miserably. Even the couple’s son noticed the disaster.
The husband started with the dog’s face and worked down from there. He abruptly stopped on the dog’s back once he realized he was way over his head.
It looked as if Reba proudly wore her new haircut, but that’s likely because she didn’t see herself in the mirror. The son, however, gave the husband an earful. The last scene in the video shows the kid furiously yelling at the dad when he sees what happened to the dog.
Whether or not Reba enjoyed the new do, the wife messaged their groomer and sent photos as evidence. The groomer got Reba in immediately to fix whatever happened at the husband’s salon.
Not only did Reba get a proper trim, but her luscious curls have grown back. No one was more thrilled with the result than the son. One of his favorite activities is to run his hands through Reba’s fur, a video update on the situation said.
Newsweek reached out to @whitneypelfrey via TikTok for additional comment.
The clip has over 1.1 million views, and TikTok users were floored to see the result of the husband’s haircut. They were expecting something, but nothing prepared them for that.
“Don’t let your hubby quit his day job,” commented one, while another said: “I’m calling paw patrol.”
A third user asked: “Did Reba ask for a mullet? Personally, I don’t think this is what she envisioned.”
