In a viral Instagram video, the owner of a Siberian husky who is obsessed with Bluey revealed what they gifted him for his 7th birthday, and internet users can’t cope with the pup’s heartwarming reaction.
The clip, shared on Monday under the username @imbluethesiberian, shows the pup, Blue, lying on the couch watching his favorite program, Bluey, when all of a sudden, the main character walks into his living room to wish him a happy birthday.
At first, Blue turns to look at his mom as if to confirm that this is happening for real, then he starts cuddling Bluey, who is actually his dad in a costume, spending all day in his arms enjoying his special birthday surprise.
The posters, Emma and Corey Moriarty from Florida, told Newsweek that their Blue is Bluey’s biggest fan, and he even has all his merchandise, including pajamas, stuffed animals and pillows.
The clip’s caption reads: “My dog has been obsessed with Bluey for years…He watches [it] every night before bed…So, for his 7th birthday we figured it was only right…To bring Bluey to him…
“He didn’t believe it at first…But then went over…And got so excited! He even [became] a little shy…He didn’t know what to do with himself. He spent the rest of the day cuddling Bluey…” reads layover text in the clip.
“To our tantrum throwing king, Blue, happy 7th birthday, we love you so so much, you’re truly one of a kind and we know this year will be one of the best yet,” the caption says.
“For his 7th birthday, we thought it would be a cute idea to bring his favorite character to life and we rented a Bluey costume from a local costume shop,” the Moriartys said.
“We had NO idea how Blue was going to react and the second he saw Bluey in real life, he was absolutely thrilled. He ended up cuddling with Bluey (Corey) for the rest of the afternoon and just wanted to be pet. It was definitely a birthday we’ll all remember.”
The video quickly went viral on social media and it has so far received over 2.5 million views and more than 281,000 likes on the platform.
One user, Sprinkles_lorelai, commented: “This made me cry the happiest tears! What a perfect, thoughtful gift for sweet Blue! There’s so much love and tenderness in this video.”
