Internet in Stitches As Owner Finds Dog Giving Unexpected Piggy Back
A video of a dog owner who spotted something unexpected latched onto one of her canine’s backs left viewers in stitches.
Candice, known on TikTok as @candicem29, let her dogs outside one night for business as usual but when she went to check on them, worry crept in as she noticed an odd, dark shape sitting on her Australian Kelpie and Koolie mix’s back. Since this dog has light brown fur, she knew that object was out of the ordinary.
She couldn’t immediately pinpoint what was on her dog because it was dark outside, but when she stepped closer with a light, she realized it was an animal that had latched onto her dog. The baby possum stretched across the dog’s back and held onto dear life as the dog moved back and forth.
Candice suspects the baby must’ve fallen out of a tree and, somehow, landed on her dog. The baby then clung to her dog, thinking it was their mom. The baby was just following the typical way of being carried. Their mothers will haul them around on their backs.
It looked as if the dog was trying to pinpoint where the animal’s smell was coming from, but little did she know, it was closer than she realized.
Realizing the baby animal needed help, Candice wrote in the comment section that she grabbed a towel and gently grabbed it off her dog’s back. She placed the possum at the bottom of the tree and it ran up the trunk and back to its mom.
In a follow-up video, Candice filmed the baby possum reuniting with its mother. The little critter scurried up the tree. She said in the caption you could see the mother’s eyes glaring down at them. If you look closely enough, you can spot the mom’s two glowing eyes high up in the tree. She didn’t blink.
Viewer Reactions
With over 152,600 views and 16,500 likes, TikTok users still couldn’t believe this piggy back happened even with video evidence. The comment section was flooded with laughter over the dog being completely unbothered by the baby possum.
“Omg I thought the dog had on a harness at first,” said one viewer.
Another added: “Dog is just like, ‘I can smell it, it’s so close but I just can’t seem to pinpoint exactly where it is!!'”
A third person wrote: “Your other dog looking up at the tree like ‘Where is my tree baby??'”
