Internet Obsessed With Where Woman’s Apartment Is Located: ‘Dream’
A video about a woman’s unique residence inside a restored historic landmark has gone viral on Instagram.
The clip was shared by @ladybyrd.x and has amassed more than 600,000 views since it was first posted on November 18.
The footage was captured at a shopping mall at Battersea Power Station in London, the capital of the United Kingdom, according to a hashtag shared with the post. Battersea Power Station is a Grade II* listed building in the Nine Elms area of the city’s Battersea district.
The video shows a woman sitting down, appearing bored with her hand against her chin as a note across the screen reads: “When I’m bored but then I remember I live in a shopping center.”
The woman is later shown opening a door, hopping into an elevator and pressing the down button. She later walks down a long corridor and enters a mall space decorated with Christmas lights, with a string of different stores, from Cartier to Chanel, sprawled across multiple floors.
Sixty-four percent of Christmas gift buyers in the United States plan to make most of their purchases online, while 36 percent plan to do so in-store, according to YouGov’s 2024 U.S. Christmas gifting trend report.
Of the 82 percent of Americans that celebrate Christmas, 42 percent typically buy gifts for six people or more, while 11 percent make purchases for 11 to 20 people, the report found.
The Battersea Power Station is a decommissioned coal-fired power station found along the south bank of the Thames River.
After remaining derelict for decades, the station was reopened in 2022 following a 10-year restoration project that saw its four signature white chimneys be dismantled and rebuilt.
Today, the shopping center inside the station is home to over 150 shops, bars, restaurants, leisure and entertainment venues, parks and historical spaces.
The Battersea Power Station area also offers a limited number of apartments, including ones inside the station that were designed by WilkinsonEyre, the architectural firm behind the restoration of the landmark.
“Just 254 stunning apartments will ever exist inside this iconic building, featuring original brick and steelwork dating back to the 1930s,” notes the station’s official website.
‘Dream’ Vs. ‘Nightmare’
Viewers on Instagram were divided over the apartment setup in the viral post.
User mikkimchiii simply wrote, “My dream omggg [oh my God],” and alghetto agreed, saying: “Such a flex, my childhood dream.”
User 1stklasslk noted: “This would be my parents dream, they spend so much time in that area they love it so much.”
“That’s cool honestly,” wrote spiderwhikk, and fiona_me_paisley posted: “Lucky you.”
Others were not as impressed, such as lorenzo.s_m who said: “Legit this is my worst nightmare (besides WW3).”
“Girl, you’re in hell,” noted jakecascen, and sirstrange agreed, saying: “Seems like capitalist hell.”
“I can’t imagine how expensive this is,” posted rayyan.alkharusi.
