Is Apple Pay Down? Users Report Crash in Payment Cash App. Here’s What We Know
While Apple Pay is not down according to the company’s system status page, there are ongoing issues with Apple Cash. Apple said the problem began Wednesday morning and was still occurring at 4:30 p.m. ET.
“Some users are affected. Some users may experience issues with this service,” the company’s system status page states.
Newsweek reached out to Apple via email Wednesday afternoon for additional comment.
Is Apple Pay Working?
According to the website Downdetector, which records user reports and problem indicators from around the web, there were 324 Apple Pay outage reports as of 1 p.m. By 4:21 p.m., there were 92 outage reports.
However, Apple’s system status page states that Pay is “available” as of 4:50 p.m. ET.
Why Is Apple Cash Not Working?
According to Downdetector, users reported issues with transferring funds to Apple Cash, which functions similarly to a bank by holding funds from recent Apple Pay transactions. Additionally, there were problems with making payments in general and accessing Apple Wallet.
Since Apple Cash is a digital card in Wallet, users can also use it for purchases in stores, online and in apps with Apple Pay.
This is a developing story and will be updated when more information is available.
