Is ‘SNL’ episode new tonight? Cast member changes, host, musical guest
Saturday Night Live returns for a brand new episode this weekend.
The late night sketch show is back on November 1 for the fourth episode of its 51st season after a weeklong break following an episode on October 18, where singer Sabrina Carpenter made her hosting debut and also served as the show’s musical guest.
Who Is Hosting SNL Tonight?
Actor Miles Teller is hosting SNL for the second time on Saturday night, after making his hosting debut in season 48’s opener in 2022. His hosting stint comes before the release of his film Eternity in theaters later this month. Brandi Carlile will serve as the episode’s musical guest, making her fourth appearance on the show following the recent release of her new album Returning to Myself.
A promo for this weekend’s episode saw Teller in a pitch meeting with Chloe Fineman and cast members, excited to talk about his idea for a “Cool Pope” sketch. “I was thinking I would play like, a cool pope doing baptisms in a hot tub and just like, cool stuff like that,” he says.
Next weekend’s episode of SNL, on November 8, will see comedian and actress Nikki Glaser make her hosting debut, with musical guest Sombr. On November 15, actor Glen Powell will be hosting for the first time, with musical guest Olivia Dean.

Cast Member Changes
Five new faces have joined the SNL cast, following the departure of several cast members amid a shake-up ahead of season 51.
The new cast members are: Ben Marshall, Veronika Slowikowska, Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Culhane and Kam Patterson.
Heidi Gardner departed the show after eight seasons, while Ego Nwodim left after seven. Devon Walker and Michael Longfellow exited after three seasons, while Emil Walker left after one season.
Bowen Yang, Mikey Day and James Austin Johnson, who has been playing President Donald Trump for the past four seasons, are among those who have returned for Season 51.
Hot Topics
SNL is known for its skits lampooning politicians and parodying current events.
This Saturday night’s sketches could feature some of the week’s notable events, including Trump’s announcement that the United States plans to resume nuclear weapons testing and his whirlwind trip to Asia.
Given it’s Halloween weekend, the show may give a nod to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem rejecting a request to suspend immigration enforcement operations during the weekend celebrations.
Other topics that could come up include the ongoing federal government shutdown, the upcoming New York City mayoral election.
When Does SNL Air?
SNL airs Saturday at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC and streams live on Peacock.
