Is There Mail on Thanksgiving? UPS, USPS, FedEx Hours Today
As families congregate around their dinner table for a Thanksgiving Day feast, they may also expect a few shopping deliveries, especially with Black Friday sales around the corner and Christmas on the horizon.
So how does the holiday impact the mail and regularly scheduled packages?

Is Mail Delivered on Thanksgiving?
Since Thanksgiving is a federal holiday, the United States Postal Service will be fully closed, with mail delivery service to continue as scheduled with normal hours on Black Friday.
Also on Thanksgiving Day, UPS pickup and delivery services will be suspended, except for UPS Express Critical. That service is available 24 hours a day, all 365 days a year.
Similarly, FedEx will change its delivery schedule, meaning express delivery could be delayed for the two days after Thanksgiving.
Is the Post Office Open Today?
The U.S. Postal Service will close all post office locations due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
That means all regularly scheduled mails and packages will not be delivered and will likely be delayed until the end of the week.
USPS, UPS, FedEx Deliveries
Deliveries from USPS, UPS and FedEx are all going to be impacted by the Thanksgiving holiday.
Only urgent or critical packages will still be delivered, so expect delays for other kinds of packages.
All FedEx offices will be closed on November 28, with FedEx pickup and delivery services also suspended.
However, UPS Express Critical and FedEx Custom Critical delivery services will still be available, as they operate 365 days a year.
When it comes to UPS and FedEx store hours, you should check with your location to confirm any holiday hours as this can depend on the region and management.
Keep in mind, many retail stores close on Thanksgiving Day as well, so your last-minute turkey or side ingredient run to your local grocer could be impacted.
Aldi, Costco, Target, Trader Joe’s and Walmart have all announced they will be closed through Thanksgiving Day.
Kroger and Whole Foods have said they will remain open on Thanksgiving Day, so there will still be a place to shop if the unexpected arises.
Kroger is to be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., while Whole Foods will also have modified hours. To confirm the exact hours, you should check with your local store.
Some other store options on Thanksgiving Day include Sprouts Farmers Market, Harris Teeter, H-E-B and Wegmans.
Banks will also be closed because they also follow the federal holiday schedule.
