Is Tiger Woods Playing the 2026 Masters After His Car Crash?
As of this writing, Tiger Woods’ Masters bio reads, “Tiger Woods is making his 27th Masters start in 2026.”
Woods, 50, is also listed in The Masters field for 2026 after earning lifetime entry as a five-time Masters champion.
“I’ve been trying,” Woods said last week of his goal to play at Augusta National Golf Course on April 9, per BBC Sport. “This body doesn’t recover like it did when I was 24, 25. It doesn’t mean I’m not trying; I’ve been trying for a while. I’ve had a couple of bad injuries last year that I’ve had to fight through and has taken some time. I keep trying. I want to play.”
Woods’ participation might not be up to him anymore.

Last Friday, Woods was involved in a two-car crash in Jupiter Island, Florida. Nobody was injured, Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek confirmed at his press conference hours after the crash.
While Woods’ health status is in the clear, his fitness to play at Augusta on April 9 is up in the air.
During NBC’s broadcast of the Texas Children’s Houston Open on Saturday, Dan Hicks said, “He will take some time off the course to get things together.”
Hicks was not reporting Woods’ plan for The Masters, but he and PGA Tour golfer Brad Faxon cast doubt on it.
“The fact that he was getting ready to practice at his home club and thinking maybe he’s gonna play The Masters,” Faxon said. “Everybody was kind of hoping for that, but we’re hoping for the best wishes for Tiger now as he goes forward.”
Woods has not made any public comment about The Masters or otherwise since his car accident.
Woods last played The Masters in 2024, and he last won the Green Jacket in 2019.
The 15-time major champion has struggled to compete of late, especially after rupturing his Achilles at his home last March and undergoing a lumbar disc replacement last October. It was Woods’ seventh back surgery, per Associated Press.
