It’s Time to Take John Calipari, Arkansas Serious Following Huge Upset Over St John’s
The Arkansas Razorbacks, led by NCAA basketball legend John Calipari, have pulled off a second straight upset, this time over 2-seed St. John’s, led by fellow legendary coach Rick Pitino, with a final score of (insert score)
This comes just two days after upsetting another legendary coach in Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks.
Calipari and the Razorbacks have now pulled off two straight upsets as a 10-seed, and are looking like dangerous Final Four threats in the West Region. The will face off with the 11-seed Drake Bulldogs or the 3-seed Texas Tech Red Raiders in the Sweet 16.
After overcoming what seemed to be a gauntlet of top coaches and programs, John Calipari seems to be back in peak March form, once again manning one of the top teams in the country. It hasn’t been easy, but even with talented point guard Boogie Fland limited due to injury, the team has picked his slack and thrived.
In both games, Arkansas was leading for most of it, with their opponents making late surges, but the team still found a way to close out the game.
A team that can close out games in the NCAA tournament is a dangerous one, as most games end up having close finishes due to the fine margins between each time that makes the tournament.

The path also is pretty interesting for the Razorbacks to continue their run beyond the Sweet 16. Either one of the winners between Drake and Texas Tech is vulnerable, with Drake being a lower seed than Arkansas and Texas Tech dealing with banged players, just like Arkansas.
Their Elite 8 opponent would like to be Florida or Maryland, with Florida being the far superior team remaining in the region with St. John’s and Texas Tech hypothetically gone.
Florida did finish the season hot, but may not be quite the juggernaut of a Auburn or Duke, so they are certainly vulnerable.
If Calipari can outcoach a less experienced yet talented coach Todd Golden in the Elite Eight, a trip to the Final Four is within reach.
After a stellar career with the Kentucky Wildcats, Calipari seems to be back in the mix among the top coaches with this run and can cement his legacy as one of the greats if he can lead a 10-seed to the Final Four.
A national championship victory would be a run of historic proportions for sure, but even just a trip to the Final Four in his first season with the program would be incredible.
