Ja Morant Drops Cryptic Message Amid Trade Speculation
Memphis Grizzlies star guard Ja Morant sent this cryptic message amid trade speculation.
On Saturday, Morant took to X and sent this four-word message to his followers.
“Time tells the truth,” Morant wrote.
Morant has been floated around in trade rumors for the past few months. With the trade deadline on the horizon, there is a chance the Grizzlies move off the two-time All-Star.

While the rumors have been swirling, things are still uncertain on whether or not Morant will remain in Memphis past Thursday. A recent trade update by NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype noted that the Milwaukee Bucks won’t want a move on Morant.
“While the Bucks expressed interest in Grizzlies star Morant, Milwaukee’s chances of landing the two-time All-Star were deemed unlikely within the past few days following Antetokounmpo’s injury, HoopsHype has learned. As previously reported on HoopsHype, the Grizzlies desired Milwaukee’s 2031 or 2032 first-round pick and Most Improved Player of the Year candidate Ryan Rollins in Morant discussions.”
On top of that, John Hollinger of The Athletic said the Grizzlies want more than expiring contracts for a potential deal surrounding Morant.
“It seems clear that the Grizzlies are looking for more than just expiring money in return for Morant, and that the eventual deal will involve some combination of useful players, picks and prospects; maybe not hugely useful players, but Memphis seems intent on getting something positive out of this.”

The Grizzlies selected Morant with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, immediately taking the city and franchise by storm.
From 2021 to 2023, things looked promising for Memphis, but the team couldn’t get over the hump. Add in some off-the-court issues for Morant, and the situation began to unravel for both sides.
Morant is currently under a five-year, $197 million contract, which runs through the 2027-28 season. The contract does not contain a no-trade clause or a player opt-out; however, it does have a trade kicker.
We will find out what direction the Grizzlies want to go by Thursday’s deadline.
