Jacob Lee Bard named as suspect in Kentucky State University shooting
Jacob Lee Bard has been named as a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting at Kentucky State University on Tuesday.
The shooting, which took place around 3 p.m. at a residence hall in Frankfort, left one student dead and another critically injured.
Scott Tracy, Frankfort’s assistant chief of police, said at a news conference Tuesday evening that Bard had been taken into custody and booked on charges of murder and first-degree assault.
Police said he is from Evansville, Indiana, located roughly 150 miles west of Frankfort.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said in a video message posted on X that the shooting “appears to be an isolated incident.”
“Violence has no place in our commonwealth or country. Let’s please pray for the families affected and for our KSU students. Let’s also pray for a world where these things don’t happen,” he said.

This is a developing story. More details to follow.
